Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 11- Ver. 21:
Certainly, this wave of new deities invades your being. Many people are terrified, chanting praises with folded hands and saying, “May all be well.” Thousands of brilliant rishis and siddhas are singing sublime hymns in praise of you.
Explanation
Arjuna is seeing Shree Krishna’s kaala rupa, which is his form as all-devouring time. Even the greatest of personalities, including celestial gods, are consumed by the marching onslaught of time. Arjun sees them taking on the universal form, folded hands in submission to God’s divine power. He observes sages and perfected souls glorifying the Lord with their thoughts, words, and acts at the same moment.
Verse & what we can learn
Arjuna was getting a better understanding of the cosmic form. He had previously stated that all three worlds were terrified of Ishvara’s terrifying form. He witnessed something incredible in one of those realms, the heavenly planet populated by deities. The deities were originating from and disappearing back into Ishvara’s cosmic form.
This shloka highlights the many types of persons in terms of spiritual awareness. Then there are individuals who are entirely absorbed in the world of names and forms. Due to their great entanglement with their senses, they have little to no knowledge of the unity of things, of the presence of Ishvara in everything.
Then there are others who have sensed Ishvara’s presence and are trying hard to align themselves with the higher. Finally, there are a select few who have understood the absolute, transcending all names and forms.
In this moment, Arjuna witnessed all three categories of people: the ignorant, seekers, and realized masters. Ignorant people and searchers were both merging into Ishvara, but only the seekers were screaming accolades to him because they understood he was their ultimate aim. The realized masters, the sages and siddhas, sang songs to Ishvara as they stood aside from the process of creation and dissolution.
To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There is also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.
In the next shloka Arjuna begins to describe the cosmic form of Ishvara.
