Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 8- Ver. 27:

Any yogi who knows both of these paths is not deceived, O Paartha. As a result, O Arjuna, keep doing yoga at all times.

Explanation

True yogis are those who persevere in their pursuit of Yoga, or connection with God. They perceive themselves as minuscule fragments of God’s eternal bliss. They also understand the transience of the material world and the futility of a materialistic existence. As a result, rather than chasing after sensuous pleasures, they strive to deepen their love for God. Such souls are on the way to enlightenment.

On the other hand, there are others who are ignorant spirits who are influenced by maya, or material energy. They see themselves as nothing more than a body, with the material world around them serving as their source of pleasure. They continue to suffer the vicissitudes of material existence, disdaining God and His eternal affluence. As a result, such souls are on the dark path.

Shree Krishna urges Arjun to perceive the difference between these two paths and select the path of light, therefore becoming a yogi, in this verse. It is not enough to go along the path of light for a short time; it must be a continuous process, or one will fall back into darkness. As a result, Shree Krishna adds the term “at all times” to this verse. It is our responsibility to always understand the importance of being a yogi. And stay away from the danger of returning to the path of darkness.

Verse & what we can learn

Those who know what happens to the jeeva after they die are not deluded or misinformed. They can change their behaviour on earth as a result of this knowledge in order to qualify for the right path after death. We should Follow the path of selfless action paired with single-pointed devotion, also known as karma yoga and bhakti yoga. We should put the teachings into practise in our daily lives by meditation “at all times.”

A follower of the Supreme Lord should not be concerned about whether he would depart on purpose or by accident. The devotee must be deeply rooted in the Divine. He should be aware that being concerned about either of these two options is undesirable. Being always engaged in His service is the best way to be absorbed in Divine consciousness, and this will make one’s path to the spiritual kingdom safe, certain, and direct.

All affairs should be immersed in divine consciousness and one should be detached to the material world. This is how one achieves perfection. As a result, the devotee is unconcerned by these descriptions since he knows that devotional service ensures his entrance to the ultimate dwelling.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.

There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There are also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.

Shri Krishna summarizes and concludes this chapter in the next shloka.
