Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 11- Ver. 41 & 42:

I addressed you rashly as O Krishna, O Yaadava, O friend, thinking of you as a friend. I expressed it in this manner out of carelessness or affection, not knowing your greatness. Whatever insults were spoken in jest to you while you were resting, sleeping, sitting, or dining, O steadfast one, whether in solitude or in front of others, I beg your forgiveness, O infinite one.

Explanation

Shri Krishna and Arjuna were childhood friends. Arjuna never grasped the holy aspect of Shri Krishna’s birth as they grew up together. He had treated him like though he were any other of his friends. Now that he had realised his divine essence after seeing the cosmic form, he wanted to apologize to Shri Krishna for his mistreatment of him and ask forgiveness for all the times he had done foolishly.

Shri Krishna highlighted the significance of having an attitude of equanimity, or sameness, toward objects, situations, and people throughout the Gita. When Arjuna examined his previous treatment of Krishna, he discovered that he had fallen short of that ideal.

Arjuna wished to confess his misdeeds and ask Shri Krishna for pardon now that he had obtained the knowledge of equanimity from Shri Krishna.

When love grows strong, the lover loses sight of the beloved’s formal position. Arjuna had experienced many private memorable moments with Shree Krishna as a result of his tremendous love for him, blissfully unaware of his supreme position.

After seeing God in his universal form, Arjuna realizes that Shree Krishna is not only his companion and companion, but also the Supreme Divine Personality, whom even the devatas, gandharvas, and siddhas revere. As a result, he regrets the contempt he believes he may have showed Shree Krishna by considering him as a simple friend.
Those who are revered are not addressed by their first names out of respect. He is concerned that, as a result of his overabundance of familiarity with God, he has presumptuously addressed him with adoring vocatives like “My friend,” “My dear buddy,” and “O Krishna.” As a result, he begs pardon for whatever he may have done in his ignorance of Shree Krishna’s holiness.

Verse & what we can learn

Arjuna recalls insulting Shri Krishna by calling him dark-skinned, referring to his caste, or referring to him as a buddy instead of a more dignified title. His intellect realised that insulting anyone was wrong, but he did it nevertheless. Knowing this, Arjuna admitted to his inexperience, recklessness, and haste. Arjuna, on the other hand, provided a different perspective. In some cases, he insulted Shri Krishna carelessly, but in others, he did so out of pure affection for his friend.

His mind realized that insulting anyone was wrong, but he went ahead and did it anyhow. Knowing this, Arjuna admitted to his inexperience, recklessness, and haste. Arjuna, on the other hand, provided a different perspective. In some cases, he insulted Shri Krishna carelessly, but in others, he did so out of pure affection for his friend. It is quite okay to insult one other when there is mutual fondness amongst friends. Arjuna planned to ask for forgiveness as soon as possible, and hoped that Shri Krishna would remember this part of the story.

Arjuna wished to confess his faults and ask Shri Krishna for pardon now that he had obtained the knowledge of equanimity from Shri Krishna. He said that his actions were solely motivated by ignorance and ridicule. According to the Mahabharata, Arjuna enjoyed playing tricks on Shri Krishna when they were little. Shri Krishna was going to sit in a chair when he moved it away from him. He wanted to persuade Shri Krishna that he was not being malicious in his pranks. Arjuna addressed Shri Krishna one who “never falls from his place,” indicating that Shri Krishna’s conduct was without fault and that he practiced what he preached.

Only someone with a big heart can forgive others. After confessing his wrongdoings to Shri Krishna, Arjuna was able to start again and follow his teachings.
