Once We Know Supremely Confidential Spiritual Knowledge, Every Illusion Will Be Dispelled
अर्जुन उवाच |
मदनुग्रहाय परमं गुह्यमध्यात्मसञ्ज्ञितम् |
यत्त्वयोक्तं वचस्तेन मोहोऽयं विगतो मम || 11.1||
arjuna uvācha
mad-anugrahāya paramaṁ guhyam adhyātma-sanjñitam
yat tvayoktaṁ vachas tena moho ’yaṁ vigato mama|| 11.1||
Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 11- Ver. 1:
You have spoken about the supreme secret known as self-knowledge out of compassion for me. My delusion was broken by those statements.
Explanation
Arjun feels relieved after hearing Shree Krishna’s vibhtis and learning about the Supreme Personality, and his illusion has been removed. Shree Krishna is not only his best friend, but also the Supreme Divine Personality who is the source of all riches in the world, he has embraced. In this chapter, he begins by thanking Shree Krishna for his compassion in revealing such priceless wisdom.
Verse & what we can learn
Arjuna says His misconception has been dispelled, he claims. What happened to cause that? The answer to the query “who am I?” is only possible because Shri Krishna revealed to Arjuna the knowledge of the self.
When Arjuna realised that he was the self, the aatmaa, the eternal essence, he realized that the self-neither kills nor is killed, and that it is neither the doer of action nor the enjoyer of the effects. He realized that even if his body died or if his body killed another body, the everlasting essence in each of those bodies would not be affected. He calls it “guhyam,” or secret, because it demands a dedicated student and a rare master.
Arjuna was modest enough to admit that Shri Krishna bestowed his grace and knowledge on him simply out of compassion. This knowledge can only be obtained by Ishvara’s kindness and compassion, as well as the guidance of a competent guru.
To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
