Explanation
Arjuna started by saying “aho,” expressing sorrow. He listed many bad things that could happen if the war occurred. But he didn’t think about the greater harm to society if the wrongdoers weren’t punished.
We often blame others or situations and ignore our own faults. Arjuna didn’t want to fight his greedy relatives because he felt attached to them and had pity for them. He thought it would be wrong to kill them because they were family. But his feelings were more about his own desires than his duty as a warrior. His confusion led him to think about giving up his weapons and letting his enemies kill him.
Verse & What We Can Learn
Having no confidence in one’s thought process and actions leads to an inferiority complex and negative consequences.
In the next verses, we will see Arjuna becoming weaker and getting prepared even to get himself killed in the hands of Kauravas.
