Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 1- Ver. 23: I’d like to see people who have come here to fight on the side of Dhritarashtra’s evil-minded son to please him.
Explanation
Arjuna had no fear because he was riding with the Supreme Lord. He believed that although the Kauravas, the wicked sons of Dhritarashtra, had refused to share, the Pandavas had a right to half of the Hastinapur empire. With a desire to reclaim what was rightfully theirs and exact revenge for all of their prior wrongdoings, Arjuna was prepared for battle.
To get a better glimpse at the Kaurava army, he asked to have the chariot put in the center of the battlefield. Arjuna wished to confront everyone who supported injustice. Since they had all chosen to support the wrong side, he planned to punish them all equally. No one would be exempt.
Reflection
Arjuna became increasingly arrogant and self-assured. His statements revealed his hatred for Duryodhana and everyone connected to him, including Dhritarashtra, Arjuna’s uncle and a senior member of the family. Additionally, he probably intended his enemies to have a better look at him so that the sight of Arjuna in full combat mode would further demoralize them.
