MedGenome announces majority investment in Siddhi Diagnostics & Research Centre
Bengaluru, May 19 : MedGenome, India’s leading genomics-driven diagnostics and research services company, has joined hands with Siddhi Diagnostics & Research Centre (SDRC), a well-established diagnostic imaging service provider with a strong presence across Mumbai’s extended western suburbs. This marks a strategic step in strengthening MedGenome’s presence in the region, while expanding access to advanced, integrated diagnostics across suburban belts.
Founded in 1995, SDRC is led by Dr. Ajit Pungavkar and Dr. Sona Pungavkar. Dr. Ajit, a renowned sonologist with over 35 years of clinical experience, has devoted his time and expertise to advancing the imaging-led diagnostic services in this region. Dr. Sona Pungavkar is a nationally recognized radiologist with about 30 years of clinical experience. A frequent speaker at both national and international conferences, she has contributed over 40 prestigious articles in journals and received multiple awards in recognition of her contributions to the field.
Under their leadership, SDRC has built over 30 years of clinical expertise in diagnostic imaging and a strong reputation for delivering high-quality services, including MRI, CT, X-ray, Sonography, Mammography, Interventions, Cardiac investigations, HSG, OPG, and BMD. The network operates five centres across Nalasopara (East and West), Vasai, Virar and Thane supported by advanced infrastructure comprising four MRI and five CT systems. Positioned as a full-spectrum imaging provider, SDRC offers strong accessibility across the Naigaon–Palghar and Thane belt, serving a wide network of hospitals and clinicians in the region.
Commenting on the development, Surajit Chakrabartty, CFO of MedGenome, said,
“This reiterates MedGenome’s commitment to offering affordable early and accurate diagnostics and building an integrated diagnostics ecosystem in India. By bringing together MedGenome’s strengths in genomics with SDRC’s established imaging capabilities, we can move closer to delivering a more complete view of a disease — combining structural and molecular insights to support earlier and more precise clinical decisions. Importantly, SDRC’s strong presence in the extended Mumbai region enables us to integrate genomics into everyday clinical practice in high-growth suburban markets, where the need for quality diagnostic solutions continues to grow.”
SDRC caters to a large and diverse patient base through a mix of walk-in services, home collections, and partnerships with hospitals and laboratories, in an all-under-one-roof concept. Its strong reporting and analytical expertise have helped build long-standing clinical trust, particularly in regions beyond Greater Mumbai where access to high-quality diagnostic infrastructure has traditionally been limited.
Dr Ajit Pungavkar, Founder, SDRC, said,
“In clinical practice, we often see cases where imaging alone does not provide the full picture, especially in complex or early-stage conditions. Through this partnership with MedGenome, we are now able to complement imaging findings with deeper molecular insights, which can significantly improve how clinicians interpret and act on diagnostic information. This brings a meaningful shift in how diagnostics are used not just in identifying disease, but in guiding more precise and timely treatment decisions.”
Dr Sona Pungavkar, Co-founder and Medical Director, SDRC, said,
“As diagnostics continues to evolve, the ability to integrate different layers of information becomes increasingly important. With the advancements in AI, today we are able to analyse the results of every evaluation holistically. Over time, this approach will help make advanced diagnostics more seamlessly integrated into routine care, improving both accessibility and the overall quality of clinical decision-making.”
This also reinforces MedGenome’s strategic focus on advancing a more integrated, multi-omics-driven approach to diagnostics. By bringing together complementary capabilities across imaging and advanced testing, the entire patient journey can be serviced in a single ecosystem.
