TAPMI welcomes a new batch of MBA students for AY 2025-27

25th June, 2025:  T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), one of India’s premier B-schools with the prestigious double crown accreditation (AACSB, AMBA), commenced the academic year for the batch 2025-27 on June 21, 2025. TAPMI welcomed the 43rd batch of MBA, 12th batch of MBA – Banking & Financial Services (BKFS), 8th batch of MBA – Human Resources (HRM), 7th batch of MBA- Marketing, 4th batch of MBA – International Business (IB) and 1st batch of MBA (AI&DS). The batch comprises 563 students across programs.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Niranjan Kalyandurg, President – Honeywell Technology Solutions and alumnus of TAPMI’s 1989–1991 batch, shared insightful advice with the incoming cohort.

He emphasized that “success in today’s world demands more than academic excellence.” Dr. Kalyandurg urged students to apply their learning practically, think across disciplines, and develop a problem-solving mindset. He highlighted the importance of teamwork, strong communication skills, and leveraging AI as a tool rather than a crutch. Encouraging students to be fearless, work hard, and embrace lifelong learning, he concluded by stressing the importance of ethics and values as essential guides through every challenge. “The next two years at TAPMI are your foundation,” he said. “Make the most of them.”

The Guest of Honour, Ms. Kirti Timmanagoudar, Head – Co-lending & Strategic Alliances at IIFL (India Infoline Group) and alumna of TAPMI’s 1999–2001 batch, shared valuable insights from her personal and professional journey. Reflecting on her time at TAPMI, she remarked, “TAPMI offers more than academics—it builds character and resilience.” Ms. Timmanagoudar encouraged students to embrace every opportunity, remain curious, and focus on honing communication and collaboration skills. While acknowledging the importance of grades, she emphasized that adaptability, self-confidence, and the ability to learn from both success and failure are what truly shape a career. “Setbacks are part of the journey; use them to grow,” she advised. She also underscored the importance of prioritizing well-being and building meaningful connections, reminding students that “no matter where you come from, your time here can be transformative if you stay committed and open to learning.”

Welcoming the incoming batch, Prof. Rajeev Kumra, Director TAPMI, reflected on the inspiring legacy of the institute’s founder, Shri T. A. Pai. He highlighted the core values and strengths that have established TAPMI as one of India’s leading B-schools, known for academic excellence, industry relevance, and a strong ethical foundation.

Prof. Vasanth Kamath, Chair – Admissions, presented the batch profile, showcasing the diversity and dynamism of the new cohort. The 500+ strong batch comprises students from a wide range of educational backgrounds and represents 25 states and Union Territories across India. Notably, the incoming class reflects a near-equal gender ratio, with female students making up 49.91% of the cohort.

The first day of the Induction Program at TAPMI featured a series of insightful sessions aimed at helping students transition smoothly into B-school life.

Prof. Shruthi J. Mayur conducted a session on Student Counselling and Wellness Facilities available through MAHE, underscoring the institute’s commitment to student well-being. This was followed by an engaging address from Prof. Gururaj H. Kidiyoor, Dean – Academics, who introduced students to the culture and academic philosophy at TAPMI, and elaborated on the program structure and pedagogical approach. Prof. Prashanth Yatgiri, Chairperson – PGP, presented an overview of the MBA Program along with essential academic guidelines. Prof. Krishna Prasad, Associate Dean Administration and Mr. Mahesh Prasad, SHO, made the students familiar with the hostel guidelines and rules and regulations in Manipal respectively. The day concluded with faculty introductions by respective Area Chairs, allowing students to begin familiarizing themselves with the academic leadership.

Looking ahead, sessions such as team-building are scheduled to commence on June 23rd, 2025. These will kick off a series of activities designed to foster self-awareness, peer bonding, and holistic development, all within the vibrant TAPMI campus.
