Irish Ambassador Kevin Kelly Opens Education in Ireland Fairs 2026 in New Delhi

New Delhi, 05 October 2026: Education in Ireland, the national brand promoting Ireland’s higher education sector, today opened its India Education Fairs in New Delhi, with an opening address by H.E. Mr. Kevin Kelly, Ambassador of Ireland to India.

Hosted at the Shangri-La Eros New Delhi together representatives and academics from 17 leading Irish universities and colleges, giving students and parents the opportunity to engage directly with institutions and gain first-hand insights into studying in Ireland.

Speaking at the opening, Ambassador Kelly said, “India and Ireland share a long-standing partnership built on education, talent and ideas. Indian students have become an integral part of Irish campuses, and these Fairs offer them a valuable opportunity to explore the programmes, scholarships and career pathways Ireland has to offer. I wish all the students and institutions a very productive fair.”

Positioned as a comprehensive guidance avenue, the Education In Ireland allowed students to explore a wide spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across technology, healthcare, sustainability, business and finance, arts and humanities, and emerging industries. Academics and faculty representatives are on hand to speak about academic pathways, industry trends and the advantages of studying in Ireland, alongside information on scholarships, research opportunities and student life, factors that continue to make Ireland a preferred destination for Indian students.

Beyond attracting students to Ireland, today’s event also provided an excellent opportunity for Irish and Indian Higher Education Institutions to explore possibilities for lasting partnerships”, the Ambassador added.

Further fostering stronger partnership between India and Ireland, the Education in Ireland Fairs also anchored a bilateral dialogue on Transnational Education (TNE), bringing Irish institutions together with international office representatives from 11 leading Indian universities, including Ashoka University, Shiv Nadar University, SRM University Sonipat and Delhi University. This discussion examined emerging trends, partnership models and the evolving role of international collaboration in strengthening student outcomes and institutional capacity.

An official from the Irish Visa Office also conducted a dedicated seminar on the student visa process. The session gave students, parents and education agents clarity on key documentation requirements, timelines and financial planning, and the opportunity to put their questions directly to the visa team, helping them approach the upcoming academic intakes with greater confidence.

Ms. Elizabeth McHenry, Regional Manager – Asia & MENA, Education in Ireland, said, “We are delighted to begin our India Education Fairs in New Delhi, a dynamic hub for aspiring students, and to have Ambassador Kelly with us at the opening. Bringing 17 Irish institutions and visa experts under one roof gives students and families direct access to the guidance they need to make informed choices about their higher education journey. We look forward to engaging with them through the day and supporting them every step of the way.”

The New Delhi fair is the first leg of the five-city India Education Fairs series, which will also visit Pune, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru this October. The fairs are designed to provide trusted, transparent guidance for those aspiring to study and live in Ireland.
