Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 3- Ver. 26:
By urging individuals to stop working, the wise should not cause conflict in the minds of ignorant people who are attached to productive activity. Rather, by carrying out their responsibilities in an accurate way, they should inspire the ignorant to carry out their responsibilities as well.
Explanation
When working with others, the karma yoga practitioner should continue to conduct actions diligently rather than attempting to modify their manner of doing things. This shloka instructs us to be vigilant in our actions and to allow others to act to the best of their abilities without disturbing them in any way.
Because ordinary people look up to great people, they bear a greater burden of responsibility. As a result, Shree Krishna advises wise people not to do anything or say anything that will cause the ignorant to fall. By giving superior instructions that they are not qualified to understand, the ignorant should not be asked to abandon their duties.
The ignorant should be inspired by the spiritually wise in Vedic knowledge to perform their duties with attention and care. If the ignorant’s thoughts get agitated and unsettled, they may lose faith in working altogether, and with no deeds and no information, the ignorant will lose out on both sides.
