Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 3- Ver. 20:

King Janaka and others acquired excellence by carrying out their assigned tasks. You should also use your work to set an example for the world’s good. The activities of great people are followed by ordinary people. Whatever standards they establish, the entire world strives to meet them.

Explanation

He uses the power of persuasion to appeal to Arjuna’s commitment to role models. Arjuna holds Janaka and other king-sages in high regard. Only through action did Janaka and the others achieve Perfection. As a result, you take steps to achieve the same goal. Arjuna was a self-sacrificing individual who cared deeply about the well-being of his people. Krishna asks him to put his personal interests aside and work for people’s welfare.

Someone who is unattached to anything would make the fairest, sensible, and unbiased decisions in the kingdom’s favour. He was not going to be swayed by emotion or prejudice in any way. These kings had a reputation for being great administrators. They were also perfect karma yogis.

If a brilliant leader of society becomes a karma sanyasi and gives up his or her job, it sets a bad example for others. The leader may be on the transcendental platform, making him or her qualified to give up work and devote all of his or her time to spirituality. Others in society, on the other hand, use their example to justify escapism and avoid their obligations.
