Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 7- Ver. 13:

People in this world are unable to know Me, the imperishable and eternal, because they are deluded by the three modes of Maya.

Explanation

“If such is your Vibhutis (opulence), then why do most humans forget that you are the Supreme creator and ruler of this entire creation?” the omniscience Lord Krishna anticipated Arjun’s query. Humans are misled by the three forms of Maya (His material energy), which are ignorance, passion, and goodness, according to Shree Krishna. These confuse human consciousness and promote a fascination with transitory bodily pleasures. The word “Maya” implies “that which is not what it appears to be.”

Maya, as a manifestation of God’s energy, is responsible with hiding His full essence from souls that aren’t yet eligible or God-realized. It seduces and confuses souls who are already turning their backs on God. It also causes them challenges and difficulties, which are worsened by the three-fold material misery. Maya uses this to make the souls understand that they will never be happy unless they are facing God.

Verse & what we can learn

Ishvara is the ultimate cause, pervading all, the entire universe is a play of the three gunaas, and he supports the three gunaas yet is unaffected by them. Because of the strong force of the three gunaas, most people are mistaken or confused regarding Ishvara’s genuine nature. This overwhelming sensation is caused by our proclivity to be taken away by names and forms.

Each gunaa, or natural state, has the power to overwhelm us. Our minds and senses are built out of the gunaas’ “material,” and they seek prakriti, or nature, which is also made up of the gunaas. Because our senses and minds are wired to focus on names and shapes, we are helpless.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.

There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There are also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.

In the Next verse, Shri Krishna tells Arjuna about Maya and it’s nature.
