Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 6- Ver. 8:
An established yogi is a person who is content with knowledge and wisdom, who is stable as an anvil, who has conquered the senses; to him, a lump of clay, a stone, and gold are all the same.
Explanation
Both jna and vijna illuminate the mature yogi’s brain. All material items, in the eyes of the wise yogi, are changes of the material energy. Such a yogi does not distinguish between objects based on how appealing they are to the self. In their relationship with God, the enlightened yogi sees everything. All things are meant to serve God because material energy belongs to him.
A realized meditator nature is complete and content with knowledge and wisdom so he has no need for anything else because He has the quality of constancy because of his happiness and mastery over his senses. Externally acquired knowledge is that which is gained through the study of writings. Wisdom, on the other hand, comes only when we have assimilated this knowledge and can see how it applies to our lives.
The combination of knowledge and wisdom brings one to the awareness that I am complete and, as a result, am unaffected by what occurs in the body. Shri Krishna continues by saying that such a person has complete control over his or her thoughts and senses. This idea has been reiterated numerous times because it is the most crucial, but also the most hardest, thing a seeker can do: remain perfectly still in his own self. His senses are entirely under his control, and they do not move without his permission. In the body, there is no restlessness.
Verse & what we can learn
Only knowledge is a burden, You are truly spiritual only when you gain wisdom and are transformed to a higher condition. Think on what you’ve learned, reflect on it, ponder it, experiment with it, and live it. Keep going until you’ve absorbed everything and made it your own.
When one is united with Atman . He has freed himself from the shackles of the material world. He is no longer a victim of the outside world. He is in a state of infinite bliss. He is self-sufficient and does not require anything from the outside world to be happy.
To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There are also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.
In the Next verse, Shri Krishna tells Arjuna in depth about Yogis.
