Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 6- Ver. 42:

Alternatively, he will only go to a family of yogis who are well-versed in the art. A person born in this way is extremely rare on this planet.

Explanation

Our birthplace and family have a significant impact on our life path and accomplishments. There would be no justice in the world if every life’s birthplace and family were determined randomly. God, on the other hand, possesses a record of all our thoughts and acts over an infinite number of lifetimes.

The spiritual riches accumulated by the unsuccessful yogi in the previous incarnation produce fruit, according to the rule of karma. As a result, yogis who have travelled a long distance and gained dispassion are not allowed to enter the celestial abodes. To help them continue on their path, they are born into a spiritually enlightened family. Such a birth is a huge blessing since the parents instil heavenly wisdom in their children.

Shri Krishna described two sorts of sincere seekers who had a solid grasp of meditation but were unable to achieve nirvana. The presence or lack of desires distinguishes the two sorts of searchers. The meditator with unfulfilled wants comes from a wealthy household. Desires are the most difficult thing to overcome in meditation. Only once all desires have died down can true meditation begin. As a result, this group of meditators is offered the opportunity to live out his dreams in a wealthy family.

The other, rarer type of meditator had succeeded in suppressing his desires but was unable to achieve nirvana due to a lack of time. He enters straight into a family of yogis after he dies because he has no interest in fulfilling any desire, whether heavenly or worldly. These yogis are not only skilled meditators, but they also have thorough knowledge of the texts. This type of household provides an ideal setting for this type of meditator to pursue his meditation practise. He possesses sufficient dispassion and hence is unaffected by the lack of wealth in this new household. In fact, he values it since wealth can be a hindrance on the road of meditation.

Verse & what we can learn

One who has the clarity to recognise the futility of the world and works solely to break free and achieve Godhood These are the most effective deeds, because they are neither tamasika nor rajasika. Action that is completely sattvika. They will take you to the abode of spiritually matured yogis. Your surroundings are thus determined by your vasanas. You go to a location that is ideal for your spiritual growth.

The environment in which you were raised and the ideals you were exposed to as a youngster have a significant impact on the development of your personality.
