Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 18- Ver. 29:
Gunaas claims that there are three different sorts of intellect and fortitude as well. O Dhananjaya, pay close attention to this and all of its aspects.
Explanation
The nine verses before this one described the components of work and demonstrated how each of the three components falls into one of three groups. He now goes over the two elements that affect both the amount and quality of labour. They not only initiate action, but they also manage and guide it.
The intellect and tenacity are these. The ability to discriminate between right and bad is known as buddhi. Dhiti is the inner resolve to carry on with the task at hand, despite difficulties and roadblocks in the path. According to the natural modes, both fall into one of three categories. Now, Shree Krishna talks about these faculties and their three subcategories.
Verse & what we can learn
A three-part classification of knowledge, action, and the doer was offered by Shri Krishna. knowledge, motivates someone to take an action. The state of thought while carrying out the activity is known as the doer. Although the knowledge or jnyaanam element gives the action-taker their intended goal, it does not provide a strategy for how to achieve that goal. As a result, the mind, recommends a path of action.
Once the intellect has chosen a course of action, the doer must stick with it and not haphazardly become distracted or alter its strategy. Dhriti, sometimes referred to as tenacity, is the capacity to hang on to something in the face of challenges. Shri Krishna claims that Prakriti’s gunaas include intelligence and tenacity. Thus, they too are separated into three categories. In the following six shlokas, he continues to describe them. Additionally, he adds that he will provide an exhaustive description without omitting anything.
Goal, plan, and adherence to the plan are all parts of jnyaanam. Both the material and the spiritual paths can benefit from knowing how to plan and how to stick to the plan.
To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There is also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.
In the next shloka Shri Krishna explains about intellect in the nature of goodness.
