Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 11- Ver. 38:
You are the ancient person, the primaeval monarch. This universe is your everlasting residence. You are the supreme abode, the knower, and the knowable. This universe is encompassed by you, O limitless form bearer.
Explanation
Shree Krishna is addressed by Arjuna as the first Divine Person, the cause of all causes. Every object and every personality has a source, or origin, from which it arose. Lord Vishnu, too, has a reason. He is an expansion of Shree Krishna, however he is also a type of God. Shree Krishna, on the other hand, is not a personality growth. He is the initial cause of everything that exists without a reason.
Shree Krishna is the Supreme Lord’s initial form. His personality is brimming with wisdom and bliss. He is the source of everything, yet he is also the source of nothing. He is the cause of everything. Shree Krishna is omniscient, meaning that he knows everything. In addition, he is the source of all knowledge. Know that whatever work is done in God’s service is truly karma. Know that whatever information increases our love for God is true jnana.” As a result, Shree Krishna is both the knower and the known.
Verse & what we can learn
As the chapter progresses, Arjuna’s awareness of Ishvara becomes increasingly obvious. He addresses Ishvara as the primal or first lord, the one who created Brahmaa, the creator, acknowledging his creative power. He also realizes Ishvara’s ability to generate limitless number of forms, which we experience as this glorious cosmos.
Ishvara did not create the universe and then left it alone. He lives there as an ancient person, just as we live in our bodies as people, the “city of nine gates”. Ishvara is also not limited to a single place or corner of the universe. He can be found anywhere. He pervades everything of creation, just as water does all ocean waves.
Ishvara is the essence of awareness and knowledge. He is the knower of all that is to be known, as well as all the forms he has created. When all of these forms dissolve, they ultimately end up in him, the ultimate resting place, the supreme dwelling.
To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There is also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.
In the next shloka Arjuna continues to praise and describe the divine.
