Shloka Translation
BG 1. 5: Duryodhana said: Great, brave, and strong fighters like Dhrstaketu, Cekitana, Kasiraja, Purujit, Kuntibhoja, and Saibya are also present.
Explanation
The best of men, like Dhrishtaketu, Chekitan, the valiant King of Kashi, Purujit, Kuntibhoj, and Shaibya, are also accomplished heroes. Duryodhan’s fear made the Pandava army appear considerably bigger than it actually was. He had never anticipated that his rivals would gather an army of warriors with such military skill, who would be strong in combat. They were all outstanding military leaders and brave warriors, on the level with his cousins Arjuna and Bheem.
Reflection
Although Dhristaketu’s father had been killed by Krishna, he supported the Pandavas. The only Yadava warrior who did not support the Kauravas was Chekitaana. A particularly brave warrior, the king of Kashi sided with the Pandavas. The maternal brothers of Kunti, Purujit, and Kuntibhoja, who were also related to the Kauravas, sided with the Pandavas. Shaibya, who was also related to the Kauravas, was Yudhishtira’s father-in-law.
