 Shloka Translation

BG – Ch. 1- Ver. 28: Ah, Krishna I see my people here fighting, gathering. My body is trembling, my mouth has entirely dried up, my limbs are weakening, and my hair is on end. My skin is burning, my Gaandeeva bow is slipping from my hands, and I am unable to stand or think clearly.

 Explanation

Arjuna came to a realization that all the warriors preparing to pour blood on the battlefield were none other than his own kin, friends, and family. He was overcome with regret and terrified of carrying out his responsibility to fight this war. His relationship to his physical kin was the root of these emotions. He lost sight of his spiritual nature and the fact that he was more than simply his physical body. His cognition had been clouded by his fondness for his physical family.

According to the materialistic theory, we only see ourselves as our physical bodies, which are all emotionally connected to one another. This connection bears with it the physical burdens of life, such as pain, sorrow, grief, and death, because it is based on ignorance. These materialistic ties can only be broken by bodily death.

Our everlasting souls transcend life and death, making us more than just the sum of our physical parts. We frequently lose sight of the fact that the Supreme Lord is our only enduring relative when we become entangled in the many attachments of the material world. He is our soul’s mother, father, friend, teacher, and beloved.

Reflection

Arjuna’s mind was taken off balance, and he had a complete panic attack. Arjuna began by describing his bodily symptoms to Shri Krishna in these lines before moving on to his mental and emotional problems in the following verses.

When we experience such disturbed emotional states, we become unable to see things objectively and may cease to be alert for such symptoms.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.

There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, and meditation for stress, and each meditation’s benefits are countless. There are also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.

In the next verses, we will know what statements Arjuna makes after starting to lose control over his body and mind.
