Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 14- Ver. 15:
Those who die with a sattva predominance attain the learned’s pure abodes which are free of rajas and tamas. Those who die in the style of passion are born among people who are motivated by work, whereas those who die in the manner of ignorance are born among animals.
Explanation
The Supreme Lord resides in everyone’s heart as Paramatma, and all acts are launched by Him. The living being forgets all about his previous life, but he must operate in accordance with the Supreme Lord’s instructions, who is present at all of his actions. As a result, he begins his work based on his previous actions.
He is granted the necessary information and memories, and he also forgets about his previous life. As a result, the Lord is not only everywhere, but also in every single heart. He recognizes the several fruitful outcomes. He can be worshipped not only as the impersonal Brahman, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and the localized Paramatma, but also as the incarnation’s form.
As Paramatma, the Supreme Lord resides in everyone’s heart and directs all actions. The living being forgets all about his past life, but he must follow the Supreme Lord’s directions, who is present throughout his acts. As a result, he starts his work with his previous deeds in mind.
He is given the facts and memories he requires, as well as the ability to forget about his prior existence. As a result, the Lord is not only present everywhere, but also within each individual’s heart. He sees a number of positive outcomes. Not only as the impersonal Brahman, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and the localized Paramatma, but also as the incarnation’s form, he might be adored.
Verse & what we can learn
Shri Krishna already revealed what happens to someone who dies with a sattvic mental state. He claims that anyone who dies with a raja sic mental state gets reborn into a family of action-oriented people. Also, those who die with tama sic mental states are reborn in the wombs of the uneducated and inert.
One’s fate in the future life is determined by more than just one’s mental state. Every action we take creates an impression on our minds, which influences our destiny. A virtuous person is born into a family that has practiced selflessness throughout their lives. A person who has engaged in selfish behaviour is born with a tendency to become attracted to material possessions.
And everybody who has done something bad is born with demonic tendencies. To counterbalance the influence of excessive rajas, it is entirely up to each individual to cultivate their discrimination through selfless service, dedication, and the companionship of devotees. Shri Krishna repeatedly encourages us to use rajas to do selfless service and to build sattva by decreasing selfish behaviour.
To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There is also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.
In the next shloka Shri Krishna talks about fruits o0f actions.
