Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 9- Ver. 31:

He instantly becomes righteous and achieves eternal peace. Declare, O Kaunteya, that my devotee will never perish.

Explanation

Shree Krishna adds that if anyone continues the practise of devoted devotion while maintaining unwavering confidence in God, their hearts will become pure and saintly virtues would emerge quickly.

God’s divine virtues originate from Him. He is absolutely honest, caring, loving, merciful, and so forth. We are all naturally drawn to these holy attributes since we are His minuscule components. However, the process of becoming virtuous remains an enigma.

Character flaws cannot be completely and permanently removed without mental purity. Without engaging in devotion to God, sincerity, nonviolence, and other moral traits cannot be gained.” These attributes emerge when the mind is cleansed, yet cleansing the mind is impossible without connecting it to the all-pure God. “They shall never come to ruin,” He promises His bhaktas (devotees).

Verse & what we can learn

The time it takes to snap your fingers is the same amount of time it takes to make a commitment, to resolve to devote oneself to Ishvara. Ishvara ensures that such a person becomes virtuous and achieves everlasting bliss and peace when this occurs.

We will never enjoy long-term contentment as long as we have yearning for earthly things. However, because we are functioning as agents of Ishvara, our notions of doership and enjoyership are dissolved when we execute activities in worship of Ishvara. Desires are immediately abolished when doership and enjoyership are dissolved, resulting in eternal peace and enjoyment.

It’s possible that we’ll work in the spirit of worship for a while, but then revert to our old desire-driven behaviours. Ishvara will ensure that we do not fall, that we do not perish, as long as we have made a promise to devotion. The devotee must be the one to make the decision, not Ishvara. Ishvara may break a commitment he makes to himself, but he will never break a promise made by his devotee.
