Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 15- Ver. 5:

Such freed people enter My eternal Abode because they are free of pride and delusion, have overcome the evil of attachment, dwell constantly on the self and on God, are free of the desire to enjoy the senses, and are beyond the dualities of pleasure and suffering.

Explanation

Shree Krishna explains the requirements for total submission to the Supreme Lord, who is at the root of this perplexing ashvatth tree, in this verse. The first step is to let go of the pride that stems from ignorance. The embodied souls believe they are in charge of all the tangible wealth they have accumulated and will continue to accumulate.

Their minds are misled by pride borne of ignorance, and they believe that everything is for their delight, and that it will continue to provide them with satisfaction. A soul in this state does not recognize God as the owner of everything. As a result, he is unable to submit to his will.

This mistaken sense of being the enjoyer can only be dispelled through correct knowledge of God. It is vital to recognize that God is the exclusive proprietor of all material energy, and that it must be used solely for his purposes. He is the supreme ruler of the universe, and souls are his eternal servants.

The souls must abandon their pride and acquire a spirit of selfless service to the Lord. This can be accomplished by realizing the true nature of the self as the eternal servant and letting go of material attachments that drive us away from him and towards the world.

What occurs once our ethereal hearts have been cleansed and are perfectly positioned in the Lord’s loving service? Shree Krishna declares in this passage that all those flawless souls will enter his spiritual domain and remain there forever.

The material reality no longer serves a function after God-realization has been attained, and the soul is no longer bound by the cycle of life and death. It now resides with other refined, God-realized souls in God’s magnificent Abode. The material domain makes up only one-fourth of the total creation, while the spiritual sphere makes up three-quarters. The material realm is a relatively small part of God’s great creation.

Verse & what we can learn

What should a seeker’s qualities be if he or she must seek refuge in Ishvara? The absence, or at least a reduction, of the sense of I and mine is the primary qualification of a seeker. Shri Krishna claims that a seeker’s I and mine mentality, pride, and delusion must all disappear. Once the I and mine concept has faded to some degree, the seeker must concentrate on where he is trapped, where his attachment to this world is. if we unwind the attachments slowly enough, we will discover that the seeker is connected to his body.

The most difficult attachment for the seeker to overcome is the attachment to the body and the fear of death that comes with it. Ishvara worship requires a certain amount of dispassion towards the body, which is achieved via mastery of the intellect and senses. Desires that are a byproduct of connection lessen as a result of this.

Absence of the “I” and “mine” concepts, as well as mastering one’s attachments. Only then would we be able to focus on the major objective, adhyatma nitya, or everyday immersion in the self. But how do we stay in this state all the time?

By being wary of labelling the two polar opposites – likes and dislikes, joy and misery, praise and censure, and so on. Likes and dislikes have the power to divert our attention away from our aim. We should not pay them too much attention; instead, we should quietly study them as they come and depart. This is forbearance.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.

There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There is also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.

Shree Krishna discusses the nature of the eternal Abode in the next verse.
