Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 15- Ver. 10:
The ignorant are unaware to the soul’s presence in the body and enjoyment of sense objects, as well as its departure. It can only be seen by those who have the eyes of wisdom.
Explanation
While residing within a body, the soul enjoys the mind’s and senses’ perceptions, although not everyone understands this. It is a spiritual object that cannot be seen or felt with the five senses. Shree Krishna says in this verse that the ignorant are oblivious of their divine identity and mistake their physical body for the self.
Only those who have attained spiritual awareness realise that the soul is the one who gives life to the body. The body is lifeless without the soul. The heart, brain, lungs, limbs, and other material elements of the body remain after a person dies, but they no longer function since the soul has left the body.
The presence of a soul in a physical body is indicated by consciousness. Consciousness ends when the soul departs. This reality can only be comprehended by those who have attained the eyes of knowledge
Verse & what we can learn
Only those who have the insight to see the jeeva as independent and distinct from the physical body, as well as the cause for its being, may properly comprehend it. Others are unable to do so. Most of us mistakenly believe that the brain is sentient and self-aware, whereas it is actually inert and relies on the jeeva for awareness. Our true nature is one of happiness. The majority of us believe the “I” is our ego, whereas in reality it is the eternal essence. Ignorance is the aggregate word for these false beliefs.
The wisdom eye refers to those who have eliminated all of these false beliefs. Because everything is in the plane of the three gunaas, they have no qualms about challenging any thought, idea, concept, or feeling. On the other side, the majority of us will not question our long-held worldviews. Shri Krishna referred to us as “vimoodha,” meaning “totally deceived,” because we have not lost our fascination with the world despite being informed countless times by our scriptures.
To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless.
