Behold, O Paartha, my tens of thousands of divine forms, each with its own unique colour and shape.

Shree Krishna now requests Arjuna to see his vihwarupa, after listening to his prayers. To suggest that Arjuna must pay attention, he uses the word pashya, which means “behold.” Despite the fact that the form is only one, it contains an infinite number of personalities in a variety of shapes and colours. Shree Krishna uses the word śhataśho ’tha sahasraśhaḥ to signify that they exist in an infinite number of forms and ways.

The phrases “hundreds” and “thousands” are literal, but they mean “infinite” and “innumerable” in essence.

Shri Krishna, on the other hand, also wanted to emphasize that there was one thing that all of that limitless variety had in common: Ishvara himself. “Pashya me roopani,” he said, indicating that he meant “behold my forms, not all these forms.”
