Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 11- Ver. 30:

You are licking up the hosts of living beings on all sides with Your burning tongues and consuming them with Your blazing mouths. The violent, all-pervading flames of Your effulgence, O Vishnu, are searing the entire universe.

Explanation

The Lord has vast forces of creation, upkeep, and annihilation at his command. In this form, he is regarded by Arjun as an all-consuming force that is enveloping his friends and allies from all sides. Arjun sees his adversaries being wiped out in the impending fight when he sees the apparition of future destined events in the cosmic form of God. He also notices that many of his allies are dying.

Verse & what we can learn

In his cosmic form, Ishvara revels in the act of destruction. He also makes certain that nothing is overlooked and that nothing goes to waste. Everything and everyone eventually perishes. If no one dies, the earth will be unable to meet the demands of an ever-increasing population. Destruction is an unavoidable aspect of life.

Destruction is unpleasant if we think in terms of individuals. Destruction is delightful if we think like Ishvara. It also promotes apathy for the sufferings of our human bodies, knowing that they will be destroyed in order to generate something new. Arjuna keeps describing what he sees. He claims that Shri Krishna’s fire beams are causing the universe to burn up due to their heat. He wants to capture those terrible creatures.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.

There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There is also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.

In the next verse, Arjun, terrified by what he is witnessing, prays to Shree Krishna.
