Usually, our mind is tuned to think of the unknown, generating fear in us, which is why many people don’t dare to take risk. Take for example, you are standing in a midway and there are two roads one on each side. You know one path, but, you don’t know the other. So, which road would you prefer to take?  Of course, the known one.

This is what happens with most of the people. People don’t like taking any chances or risk associated with the unknown. Let it be a any matter, like choosing a road, choosing a career or investing in a business. But how long can we walk on the path of life without taking risk? This is a question, we have to ask ourselves?

To state the fact, human life itself is a risk. You never know what the next moment has in hold for you. But, even then you continue with the journey of your life thinking all good things will happen, expecting we will live longer etc. But, the fact is that we dont realize that, the unknown is not to be fearful about, instead it may be a potential opportunity. 

Take for example, a sales man is assigned a task to increase his sales. What will he do? He will look for new people and new places to make the sales. If he thinks that he does not know anyone or does not know about the new place and fears it, he will stand where he is. Instead, if he explores new places, meets new people, talks to them, gathers information about them, then he is increasing his chances of sales and is likely to make progress.

So, in real sense, the unknown could actually be an opportunity to grow or progress. When no one knew about the potential of computer technology, Bill gates had a vision and he was ready to explore the unknown and we can see today where he stands. If man had limited himself with the thought that, oh! we don’t know what is there on moon, why take risk? Then he would not have landed on the moon.

So, it is not always true that the unknown is related to fear, as successful people have always walked on the path that ordinary people thought was risky. Great entrepreneurs of all times have always initiated a new business that other people never even thought of as a business opportunity. So, if we are willing to keep aside fear factor and are willing to explore, then the world is full of opportunities.The unknown, actually needs to be explored and not to be feared.
