Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 15- Ver. 17:
The Supreme Divine Personality, who is the indestructible Supreme Soul, is in addition to these. As the unchangeable Controller, he inhabits the three worlds and supports all living entities.
Explanation
God is the Supreme Divine Personality, also known as the Supreme Soul. Supreme Soul. He is the transcendental God who rules over both the perishable and immutable realms. This verse is a striking refutation of the assertion made by non-dualistic philosophers that the individual soul is the Supreme Soul.
The individual soul is very small and bound to the physical body in which it exists; yet, the Supreme Soul is present within every living being. In every life, he is the continuous companion of the particular soul, regardless of the species into which the soul is born. He discreetly takes notes in their hearts, keeping track of their karmas and delivering appropriate results.
Verse & what we can learn
What is the essence of this universe? What is the purest condition of the planet if we remove all constraints? What is the most pure state of our being? Because it is generated by a play of Prakriti’s gunaas and is perishable, the visible world is not real. Prakriti or Maya is not real, even if it is comparatively indestructible, because it can be destroyed if our ignorance is removed. What remains is Maya’s eternal essence, on which all of her limits or upaadhis are projected.
Shri Krishna refers to the imperishable lord as the eternal essence, the purest Brahman or shuddha Brahman, in this shloka. Heaven, earth, and hell are all possible worlds here, as are our waking, dreaming, and sleeping states. The everlasting nature pervades and maintains them all, but it is not a distant entity. It is the supreme self, the “I” that everyone possesses.
To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There is also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.
In the next shloka Shri Krishna talks about the supreme divine personality.
