Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 15- Ver. 11:
Aspiring yogis recognise this as something that exists inside themselves. Those with an untrained mentality, despite their efforts, do not see this because they are ignorant.
Explanation
Materialists are unable to comprehend the concept of an eternal soul. They cannot realize that there is an entire spiritual cosmos beyond their material intellects because of their limited experience and lack of spiritual knowledge. Only those who have chosen the spiritual path strive to purify their hearts through humility and faith. The presence of the soul is automatically felt by a cleansed mind. Then they gain a good understanding of the scriptures. Similarly to the existence of the soul, the senses are unable to detect God’s existence. One can only see God through the eyes of knowledge.
Verse & what we can learn
It is the mental preparation of yogis – those who are yearning for liberation – that decides whether or not their efforts will be successful. This shloka describes someone who does not have a prepared mind as “akritaatmaanaha” Those of us pursuing liberation, on the other hand, would not want our efforts to be in vain. What are our options?
Our minds will not be able to fully absorb any scriptural information unless we have followed the path of karma yoga and bhakti yoga as given out in the earlier chapters of the Gita. The second consideration is the type of knowledge we are attempting to absorb and the technique through which we are attempting to do it. The only option is to learn the scriptures in a systematic fashion under the guidance of a teacher. devoid of wisdom, is someone who does not pursue a systematic procedure of assimilating knowledge.
Only those with a pure mind and a thorough understanding of the nature of the jeeva as the eternal essence, despite its conditionings, will be able to fully comprehend the nature of the jeeva as the eternal essence.
To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There is also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.
Shree Krishna explains the means of experiencing God’s existence in the next verse.
