K-Scene Shines at Red Lorry Film Festival with Park Chan-wook Retrospective
The Red Lorry Film Festival, curated and presented by BookMyShow, returns to Mumbai from March 13 to 15 with the launch of K-Scene, a newly introduced category celebrating the best of both contemporary and classic Korean cinema. The section highlights a film culture renowned for emotional intensity, moral complexity, and fearless storytelling, bringing together landmark works alongside some of the most anticipated new titles from Korea.

Headlining the K-Scene programme is a special retrospective celebrating celebrated filmmaker Park Chan-wook, featuring his cult classic Oldboy (2003), the film that redefined the global perception of Korean thrillers, alongside his latest work No Other Choice (2025), South Korea’s official submission for this year’s Oscars. The line-up also includes Ugly (2025), the newest film from Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho, adding a contemporary edge to the showcase with its dark and unsettling storytelling.
The programme further includes recent Korean titles such as Project Y (2025) by Lee Hwan, a stylish and fast-paced story of youth, crime, and ambition, as well as Wrangler, an offbeat and intense narrative that steadily builds toward a powerful conclusion.
Also featured within K-Scene are two enduring crowd favourites from director Kim Jee-woon, A Tale of Two Sisters (2003), widely regarded as a landmark in Korean psychological horror, and I Saw the Devil (2010), an uncompromising revenge thriller that has achieved cult status among genre audiences worldwide. Together, these films represent a defining period in Korean cinema that helped establish the country as a dominant force on the global film stage.
K-Scene forms part of Red Lorry Film Festival’s wider international programme, which will screen over 120 films from 30 countries across three days. Alongside Korean cinema, the festival will showcase a curated mix of Indian classics, popular favourites, and acclaimed global festival titles, with films from France, Spain, Germany, the USA, Japan, China, Denmark and several other countries set to be featured.
By introducing K-Scene, the festival brings together a dynamic mix of new and iconic Korean films, offering Mumbai audiences a rare chance to experience both contemporary voices and genre-defining classics on the big screen.
