Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 5- Ver. 29:
My devotee achieves tranquility after realising Me as the enjoyer of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all worlds, and the selfless friend of all living beings.
Explanation
The ascetic road is also completed in devotion to God, with the knowledge that all austerities and sacrifices are enjoyed by the Supreme Lord. Shri Krishna had hinted at meditation in the previous two shlokas. He explains the purpose of meditation in this shloka. This shloka describes what one learns while in a state of meditation.
Meditation’s purpose is to realize one’s ultimate essence. Ishvara is attained when the meditator discovers oneness with brahman or the eternal essence. First and foremost, he is the cosmic receiver or enjoyer. Any work done for the good of the community is automatically dedicated to Ishvara. It is recommended that we perform selflessly and dedicate the fruits of our actions to a greater ideal. Because he encompasses the entire cosmos, Ishvara is the ultimate goal possible.
Ishvara is known as the All-Controlling Being. Ishvara manifests as the laws or regulations that govern our existence, as well as the lives of plants, animals, and inanimate objects, through prakriti or maaya. The laws of Ishvara are just. They are fair to everyone. They work with no preconceived notions or hidden motives. Ishvara is the highest well-wisher and friend of all beings in this way since they work nonstop.
Verse & what we can learn
Sacrifice brings a great deal of joy and satisfaction. Sadness and anxiety are caused by selfish behaviour. And when you’re devoted to achieving your goal, you’ll find the journey delightful. Those who do not sacrifice and practise austerity will not prosper or be happy. This is the law.
Atman is the Supreme Power that allows all living beings to perceive, act, feel, and think. All internal physiological functions are enabled by Atman. And Atman is the overlord of all laws in the universe. The universe’s bottom layer is Atman. As you grow spiritually, you will appreciate life more, gain power, and use that power to benefit other beings.
To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There are also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.
In the Next chapter and verse, Shri Krishna tells Arjuna about duties.
