Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 5- Ver. 19:
Those whose thoughts are anchored in equality of vision in this life are victorious over the cycle of birth and death. They are situated in the Absolute Truth because they possess God’s faultless characteristics.
Explanation
Equality in vision also means to rise above likes and dislikes, happiness and suffering, pleasure and pain. Those who are able to do so, according to Shree Krishna, transcend the samsara of birth and death. We will never achieve this equality of vision as long as we think of ourselves as the body, because we will continue to have cravings and aversions for physiological pleasures and discomforts. Saints ascend above physical awareness and focus their attention on God, abandoning all earthly attachments in the process.
Dualities include concepts like near/far and slow/fast. Nature, not the eternal essence, is responsible for any such duality. As a result, someone whose intellect has transcended duality achieves the eternal essence right away. Near/far, slow/fast, and other concepts lose their meaning.
Shri Krishna concludes by explaining that obtaining the eternal essence is possible right now. We don’t have to wait for another child to be born. We must purify our minds and make them steady and harmonious in order for them to dwell on the everlasting essence using the karma yoga approach.
