Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 5- Ver. 11:

The seeker does deeds solely with his or her body, mind, intellect, and senses, putting off all attachment in the process of self-purification.

Explanation

In this shloka, Shri Krishna explains that the karma yogi preserves the notion that the body, mind, intellect, and senses are all Ishvara’s property, bestowed by Ishvara. As a result, everything you do is for Ishvara’s benefit, not his own. The body, mind, intellect, and senses, according to the Gita, are not truly “ours.” But, as a result of our conditioning, we begin to believe they are ours. We then begin to act in their best interests.

When acts are performed to satisfy the body, mind, intellect, and senses, a sense of “mine-ness” develops, and the ego becomes stronger. A karma yogi considers his body, mind, intellect, and senses to be Ishvara’s instruments. When that mentality takes hold, all activities and their outcomes are submitted to Ishvara as well. The seeker detaches himself from the ego’s body, mind, intellect, and senses and attaches them to Ishvara in this way. This is what “throwing off all attachment” means.
