Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 8- Ver. 1:

Arjuna said: What is “adhyaatma”? What is “karma”? What is that “brahman”? O supreme person. What is termed as “adhibhoota” and “adhidaiva”?

Explanation

Shri Krishna finished the preceding chapter by mentioning several technical phrases and emphasising the importance of Arjuna fully comprehending these terms in order to realise Ishvara. Arjuna does a favour for all future Gita students by asking Shri Krishna to explain these phrases explicitly. Arjuna inquires about the meanings of four phrases in this shloka: adhyaatma, karma, adhibhoota, and adhidaiva.

Shree Krishna had spoken a few phrases like Brahman, adhibhuta, adhiyatma, adhidaiva, and adhiyajna near the close of the preceding chapter. Also, even at the point of their death, enlightened souls are fully mindful of Him. Arjun is fascinated by this and wants to learn more.

Verse & what we can learn

This is possibly one of the Gita’s more philosophical and esoteric chapters. It addresses the topic of life after death, which has not been addressed in the Gita thus far. Furthermore, the definitions of the aforementioned technical terminology are offered, but different commentators have interpreted them differently, so we must choose the clearest and most straightforward interpretation. We’ll also gain a broad overview of the Gita’s perspective on the origin of the universe.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.

There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There are also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.

In the Next verse, Arjuna wants Shri Krishna to elaborate on the above terms more.
