Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 15- Ver. 12:

Be conscious that I resemble the sun’s brilliance, which illuminates the entire solar system. I am also responsible for the moon’s shine and the fire’s brightness.

Explanation

Lord Shree Krishna says in this passage that the entire creation is a manifestation of his energy. He is the source of the Sun’s brilliance. According to scientific ideas, the sun emits enough energy per second to power millions of nuclear power plants, and this process has been going on for billions of years. Nonetheless, this energy has not diminished in any way. The sun’s brightness and brilliance are a part of God’s magnificent creation. The sun, the moon, the planets, the stars, and the earth, water, air, fire, and ether are all manifestations of God’s opulence.

Verse & what we can learn

Shri Krishna now begins to explain his relationship with the rest of the world. He begins by claiming that the splendour of the sun, moon, and fire is only conceivable because of Ishvara’s splendour. We are awestruck by the sun’s energy, without which life on this planet would be impossible.

The sun’s radiance, according to Shri Krishna, is not its own. It derives from Ishvara’s majesty. The sun is a symbol for the organs of perception, such as the eyes, ears, nose, and so on. As a result, whenever any sentient entity in this world becomes aware of something, from a single celled amoeba to a human being, that awareness, that consciousness, is the power of Ishvara at work.

So, anytime we observe knowledge manifest in any organism, we should remember that the Ishvara who gives us consciousness is the same Ishvara who gives awareness to all species on the planet. Through the shared link of awareness, we can understand the identity of our nature with the world in this way.

Furthermore, the sun provides both the moon and fire with their vigour and beauty. The sun’s light is reflected by the moon. On a far smaller scale, fire is the expression of the sun’s energy. As a result, all energy is Ishvara’s energy, whether it is bright like the sun, cooling like the moon, or warm like fire.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.

There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There is also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.

Ishvara’s energy is found in all forms, whether bright like the sun, cooling like the moon, or heated like fire. What is the manifestation of this energy in the world? In the next shloka, Shri Krishna clarifies this.
