Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 7- Ver. 28:
Persons whose sins have been cleansed through pious deeds, on the other hand, are liberated from the illusion of dualities. Such people are steadfast in their devotion to Me.
Explanation
As we previously discussed, the delusion of duality is a condition that we are born with. This misconception strengthens maaya, the barrier that hinders us from reaching Ishvara. Shri Krishna now recounts the persons who have escaped maaya after explaining the predicament of the majority of those who are trapped in this scenario. Only those who have performed enough virtuous actions and purified their faults, he claims, have the unshakable resolve to directly approach Ishvara.
Those beings who have freed their minds from the dualities of hatred and desire, according to Shree Krishna, adore him with unwavering determination. They have no desire for pleasure in the material world and have no aversion to pain. They are cautious about indulging in earthly pleasures for fear of deluding their soul once more. Adversity is seen as a chance for spiritual growth and renunciation by such devotees who seek to achieve God-realization.
Verse & what we can learn
We commit a sin whenever our mind and senses draw us into the world and drive us to engage in activities motivated by selfish desires. When this happens again, it contributes to the moha, or delusion, that prevents us from discriminating or experiencing viveka.
On the other hand, whenever we do something selfless that is in line with our svadharma or responsibility, we commit merit. We are not adding to the stock of delusion by doing so, but rather purifying our minds.
Only those who operate in a selfless manner are eligible to approach Ishvara. The message is clear: fulfil your responsibilities since that is the only way to communicate with Ishvara. From this point of view, karma yoga reaffirms its significance.
