Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 7- Ver. 26:

I know those who existed in the past, who exist now, and who will exist in the future, yet no one knows me, O Arjuna.

Explanation

God asserts in this verse that He is trikala-darshi—knower of the past, present, and future. God is all-knowing. He recalls and retains a record of each unique soul of the universe’s deeds, statements, and even thoughts throughout their lives and since their endless lifetimes. God keeps a record of each soul’s sanchita karma, for all eternity because, as the governor of the law of karma, He administers justice to the souls.

Shree Krishna claims to know everything, including the past, present, and future. We cannot, however, comprehend the Almighty God with our limited understanding. His immeasurable beauty, splendour, forces, characteristics, and magnitude are beyond our weak intellect’s comprehension.

Only God is aware of Himself. If He discovers an acceptable soul, He bestows His grace on that fortunate soul, and the soul then comes to know God through God’s almighty intelligence. As a result, one can only know God through God’s grace. Otherwise, our material brain is incapable of knowing Him.

Verse & what we can learn

Ishvara is unaffected by maaya, or the constraints of space and time. He claims that because Ishvara does not identify with any one form, he is aware of all forms past, present, and future. To put it another way, Ishvara exists outside of time.

Ishvara exists beyond the space and time. We can’t comprehend the dimensionless Ishvara because we live in a three-dimensional world. There is no such thing as the past, present, or future for Ishvara because the idea of time does not exist for him. That’s how he knows who was alive, is alive, and will be alive in the future.

The only way to fully comprehend Ishvara is to surrender to him and seek refuge in him. This means accepting the fact that we have no existence or power apart from Ishvara. In order to become one with Ishvara, we must surrender our identity in Ishvara.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.

There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There are also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.

In the Next verse, Shri Krishna tells Arjuna Why don’t we genuinely try to know Ishvara, if we know that Ishvara alone is the truth and that only Ishvara can give us endless happiness? Why do we get trapped every now and then?
