Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 7- Ver. 14:
Maya, my divine energy made up of three modes of nature, is extremely tough to resist. Those who surrender to Me, on the other hand, can easily pass through it.
Explanation
Maya is said to be mithy by some (non-existent). They claim that the material energy Maya is a perception caused by our ignorance, but that Maya would vanish if someone attains spiritual enlightenment. All illusions will vanish once we comprehend that the soul is the Ultimate Reality. The Bhagavad Gita, on the other hand, disproves this viewpoint in this passage. Maya, according to Shree Krishna, is an extension of His force, not an illusion.
Maya, according to Shree Krishna, is impossible to defeat because it is His force. Someone who claims to have overcome Maya is also claiming to have defeated God. Because no one can defeat God, Maya is invincible as well. The human mind is formed of Maya, and no yogi, jnani, ascetic, or karmi can properly manage it through self-effort.
“Those who dedicate themselves to Me, the Supreme Lord, will peacefully transcend the ocean of material life by My grace,” Shree Krishna states. Now that this soul has become Mine, I’ll tell Maya to leave it.” Maya, God’s material energy, merely removes the surrendered soul from its grip on God’s command. “Maya’s mission is to torment the soul until it surrenders at God’s feet; once the soul reaches there, it’s job is done”.
Maya, the material energy, has us in its grip. Despite the fact that it is obedient to God, it continues to trouble us in order for us to keep moving toward God. We cannot beat Maya via our own efforts; we can only cross the ocean of material existence by God’s grace when we surrender entirely to Him.
Verse & what we can learn
If the play of the three gunaas attracts our mind’s senses to feel objects, and Ishvara is beyond the three gunaas, we must somehow pierce through the gunaas to reach Ishvara. How do we accomplish it if we can’t do it with our minds and sense organs? We require some extra assistance. The sole way, according to Shri Krishna, is to surrender to Ishvara.
The barrier between us and Ishvara is maaya. It’s in our heads, and we can see the results on a daily basis. We must entirely surrender to Ishvara in order to cross maaya. We must place less emphasis on ourselves and increase our devotion to Ishvara. We give up the idea that “I do everything” or “I own everything” when we surrender to Ishvara. All of it is Ishvara’s maaya. We come closer to Ishvara by separating oneself from maaya.
Shri Krishna describes maaya as divine, implying that it is supported by Ishvara but has its own reality. If we have connected ourselves to Ishvara, we can enjoy the maaya play. We should train ourselves to shift our focus to Ishvara, who is behind everything, whenever we start paying priority to worldly things like as people, objects, and situations. However, we must not exploit this to excuse all of our wrongdoings. It will come back to us as a punishment if we do something that is against the laws of nature.
