Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 9- Ver. 29:
I am the same to everyone; I do not dislike or favour anyone. Those who faithfully worship me, however, are in me, and I am in them.
Explanation
Shree Krishna feels the need to clarify this point, therefore he opens the line with samo’ ham, which means “No, no, I am equal to all.” But I have a unified code that governs how I distribute My grace.” This law was previously established in verse 4.11: “I reciprocate in whatever way individuals surrender to Me.” Everyone, O son of Pritha, follows my path, deliberately or unknowingly.”
Rainwater falls evenly throughout the earth. Nonetheless, a drop that falls on cornfields becomes grain, a drop that falls on a desert bush becomes a thorn, a drop that falls in the gutter becomes polluted water, and a drop that falls in an oyster becomes a pearl. God declares in this passage that He is equally disposed toward all living beings, but those who do not love Him are denied the benefits of His grace because their hearts are inadequate vessels for receiving it.
Even while God declares that He is equally oriented toward all living beings, those who do not love Him are denied the benefits of His grace because their hearts are inappropriate vessels for receiving it.
Verse & what we can learn
Divine is completely unbiased, and he does not despise or favour anyone. The difference in the outcome is totally dependent on the seeker’s effort and qualifications. Ishvara is the same for everyone. If we are sincerely devoted to Ishvara, we will recognize him in ourselves, and he will recognize us in him. Ishvara is in us and we are in Ishvara if we are devotees. Ishvara is not in us if we are materialistic.
