Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 9- Ver. 12:

Such people, perplexed by material energy, adopt demonic and atheistic beliefs. Their aspirations for wellbeing are shattered, their productive acts are wasted, and their culture of knowing is confused in that delusional state.

Explanation

There are many strands of atheistic perspectives about God’s personal form that are widely held around the world. Some argue that God cannot appear in the world in a personal manner. According to this scripture, all of these theories are false, and people who believe them are being deceived by material energy.

Shree Krishna even goes as far as to claim that persons who believe in such immoral beliefs have demonic natures. They are unable to practice bhakti toward the Supreme Lord’s personal form because they do not have divine feelings for Him. They can’t do it either, because devotion to God’s formless aspect is extremely tough. As a result, they are still without a way out.

Verse & what we can learn

Erroneous knowledge sets off a chain of events that can either improve or degrade our lives, not only spiritually but also materially. In this shloka, he depicts that chain.

If we begin with the erroneous belief that our body and mind are everything, and that Ishvara is a distant finite reality, all of our desires and actions will be focused on ensuring that our bodies can live peacefully.

We will continue to make exterior adjustments in quest of comfort and security, such as moving to a new place or changing occupations, in order to appease our bodies and minds and find release from grief. We will never grasp that Ishvara is our ultimate source of security and release from sadness since we do not have awareness of our genuine natures and Ishvara’s true natures.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
There are various types of meditation like Buddhist meditation, heartfulness meditation, mindfulness meditation, meditation for stress, and each meditation benefits are countless. There are also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.

We’ve seen how having wrong info about Ishvara can lead to ultimate destruction. Who, then, are those who, having gained the necessary understanding, form the proper type of relationship with Ishvara? This is taken up in the next verse
