Divine’s Cosmic Form Cannot Be Seen With Physical Eyes, Only When He Gives Divine Vision Can We See Him

न तु मां शक्यसे द्रष्टुमनेनैव स्वचक्षुषा |
दिव्यं ददामि ते चक्षु: पश्य मे योगमैश्वरम् || 11.8||

na tu māṁ śhakyase draṣhṭum anenaiva sva-chakṣhuṣhā
divyaṁ dadāmi te chakṣhuḥ paśhya me yogam aiśhwaram|| 11.8||

Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 11- Ver. 8:

Even yet, you can’t see it with your own eyes. I grant you a celestial eye to behold the magnificence of my yoga.

Explanation

When the Supreme Lord appears in the world, he takes two forms: a material form that can be seen with ordinary sight, and a divine form that can only be seen with divine vision. As a result, humans observe him during his descent to the ground, but only in his physical form. Their earthly sight cannot see His celestial appearance. That is why souls in this world are unable to recognize God when he assumes an Avatara on earth.

His cosmic shape follows the same logic. Shree Krishna had asked Arjuna to see the cosmic form in the previous two verses, but Arjuna couldn’t see anything because he possessed material sight. Physical eyes are incapable of seeing that eternal form, and the ordinary mind is incapable of comprehending it. As a result, Shree Krishna now declares that he will bestow the holy vision through which it will be possible to see the universal form in all of its glory.

The Supreme Lord’s gift of spiritual vision is an act of grace. God adds his divine eyes to the soul’s material eyes, his divine mind to the soul’s material mind, and his divine intellect to the soul’s material intellect by his grace. The soul may then see, think about, and comprehend God’s divine form since it is equipped with God’s divine senses, mind, and intellect.

Verse & what we can learn

Even after Shri Krishna began exhibiting his Vishwa roopa, his cosmic form, Arjuna appeared to be deafeningly silent. He understood Arjuna’s mortal sight lacked the vision required to see the cosmic form. As a result, he bestowed to Arjuna the “divya drishti,” the divine vision through which the yoga, the power of creating diversity in the cosmos, could be seen in all of its glory.

Ishvara has everything. Our eyes will constantly perceive divisions and distinctions due to their limitations. That’s just how they are. However, we can always use our intelligence to see through such divisions and see that Ishvara is in everything and everything is in Ishvara. If we learn to do this, we will become less attached to worldly problems and more focused on Ishvara.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.
