Divine Is Beyond The Grasp or Understanding Of Anyone

आख्याहि मे को भवानुग्ररूपो
नमोऽस्तु ते देववर प्रसीद |

Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 11- Ver. 31:

Tell me who You are, with your ferocious form. I bow before You, God of gods; please have mercy on me. I’d like to know who You are, who existed before all creation, because I don’t understand Your nature or workings.

Explanation

Arjuna had previously asked to view the universal form. Arjuna became perplexed and upset when Shree Krishna demonstrated it. He now wants to discover the nature and purpose of God after seeing an almost amazing cosmic show. As a result, he inquires, “Who are you and what is your purpose?”

Verse & what we can learn

Shri Krishna transitioned from his human form to a massive cosmic shape that was agreeable, then to another cosmic form that was terribly frightening in a matter of seconds. Arjuna demanded that he tell who he was right now and what his aim and purpose for destroying everything was. Even in his request, there was humility and surrender, because Arjuna begged for the Lord’s grace, fully aware that he was the universe’s initial primal being.

In the context of this shloka, the word “Aadyam” is very important. Before and after creation, someone or something must be there to take on the task of destruction. It must also be beyond all names and forms, because names and forms are the ones that are created and destroyed. As a result, when the entire universe is dissolved, the same original being recreates, sustains, and destroys the universe.
