Ishvara’s Grace, Rather Than Individual Effort, Is Emphasized In Bhakti

तेषामेवानुकम्पार्थमहमज्ञानजं तम: |
नाशयाम्यात्मभावस्थो ज्ञानदीपेन भास्वता || 10.11||

teṣhām evānukampārtham aham ajñāna-jaṁ tamaḥ

nāśhayāmyātma-bhāva-stho jñāna-dīpena bhāsvatā|| 10.11||

Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 10- Ver. 11:

I kindle the dazzling candle of knowledge in their hearts simply out of compassion for those who have darkness in their hearts due to ignorance.


Shree Krishna goes on to explain the concept of grace in greater detail. He had previously revealed that he bestows it on those who devote their attention to him and make him the centre of their goals, ideas, and activities. Now God reveals what occurs to someone who accepts his grace. He claims that the torch of wisdom dispels the darkness in their hearts.

Our senses, mind, and intellect are all material at the moment, whereas God is divine. As a result, we are unable to see, hear, know, or merge with him. God bestows his holy Yogmaya energy on the soul when he bestows his grace.
It is also known as Shuddha sattva, which is unique from Maya’s sattva guna. Our senses, minds, and intellect become divine when we accept that Shuddha sattva energy. Simply defined, God bestows his divine senses, divine mind, and divine intellect to the soul through his grace. The soul can see God, hear God, know God, and be linked with God because of these divine instruments.

Verse & what we can learn

Ishvara, like a lamp that is ignited to dispel darkness, ignites the yoga of intellect, which destroys ignorance from the hearts of earnest devotees, out of pure compassion.

Ishvara looks after his followers. He will see to it that their material necessities are met. But, more significantly, he will ensure that we are spiritually educated and that all of our ignorance is eradicated. Other paths to Ishvara, on the other hand, necessitate tremendous self-effort. There’s no need to roll beads or sit in any certain positions. Surrender is all that is required.

To acquire knowledge and to implement that knowledge in life one needs to be mentally and physically active and healthy and for that daily meditation is a great tool.

There is also numerous meditation techniques for beginners which help in practicing daily meditation so go ahead and start your journey towards a peaceful and balanced life.
