Subconscious Mind: The power bank of knowledge

Our subconscious mind is a warehouse of potential. It stores our experiences as memories to retrieve in the future or whenever necessary. The capacity of the subconscious mind is immeasurable. It can store a boundless amount of data. With the aid of the information stored, our subconscious acts as a tool to carve our personality. There exists a give-and-take link between the subconscious and the conscious mind. The conscious mind as an observer passes on the facts it performed to the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind tunes these details accordingly and assists in the development of the personality. Therefore maintaining a positive outlook helps in altering and reprogramming one’s mind.

Effort and determination can help in developing a positive mindset. A positive attitude keeps away fear and stress from the mind. Studies claim that the human life span can extend up to 150 years in a stress-free environment. Meditation, yoga, prayers, and listening to positive and success-oriented speeches are a few steps to nourish the mind with positivity. Positive energy can create a placebo effect in the subconscious mind. Placebos can accelerate the body’s self-healing capacity. In the words of Harvard scientist Herbert Benson, “All forms of prayers evoke a relaxation response that quells stress, quiets the body, and promotes healing. Reading stimulates our brain. Researches show that reading can improve and preserve our memory and thinking skills. Reading can slow down brain aging, thus reducing the risk of dementia.

Adversities faced in life feed our subconscious mind with negativity which shoots back as fear. A bite from a venomous snake can kill a person if not treated. But the panic and fear cause more trouble than the venom itself. It accelerates the effect of venom in the body. Fear rooted in our subconscious mind makes us physically and emotionally uncomfortable when we attempt anything new and different. The subconscious mind will try to pull us back to our comfort zone, for its duty is to maintain our persona as it is.

To harness the subconscious mind we have to provide it with goals and desires. The subconscious mind will then seek out for anything and everything related to those desires. It will compel the conscious mind to focus on that particular goal and lead us to our destination. The tug of war between the conscious and the subconscious mind determines our life. Let us create equilibrium between the two and unfold life to prosperity.
