न चैव न भविष्याम: सर्वे वयमत: परम् || 2.12||

na tvevāhaṁ jātu nāsaṁ na tvaṁ neme janādhipāḥ
na chaiva na bhaviṣhyāmaḥ sarve vayamataḥ param
|| 2.12||

Shloka Translation
BG – Ch. 2- Ver. 12:

In truth, there has never been a moment when I, you, or these rulers did not exist, and we will never cease to exist in the future.

Explanation

Shree Krishna continues by clarifying that the “self” is actually the soul, not the physical body, and that it is eternal, just as God is eternal.

Verse & What we can learn

When divine knowledge is transmitted in the Vedic tradition, it normally begins with self-knowledge. In the Bhagavad Gita, Shree Krishna adopts the same strategy. We are all timeless and immortal beings. We have always existed in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

In the next verse, we will see Lord Shri Krishna elaborating on this subject more.
