Shloka Translation

BG – Ch. 6- Ver. 44:

On the strength of their previous discipline, they are indeed attracted toward God, even against their will. Such seekers inevitably rise above the scriptures’ ceremonial precepts.

Explanation

Spiritual sentiments cannot be eradicated once they have sprouted. The soul is naturally inspired toward spirituality if it has devotional sanskrs (tendencies and impressions) from previous existence. Such a person is pulled to God, and this attraction is referred to as “the call of God.” The call of God can occasionally grow so strong that it is said,

“The call of God is the strongest call in one’s life,” based on previous sanskrs. People who have had it reject the entire world as well as their friends’ and relatives’ recommendations to follow their hearts.

Great princes, noblemen, wealthy businesspersons, have all left the comforts of their worldly positions to become ascetics, yogis, sages, mystics, and swamis throughout history. And, because their thirst was solely for God, they naturally climbed beyond the Vedic ritualistic rituals for material advancement.

Shri Krishna previously described the fate of the dissatisfied meditator born into a family of yogis. He explains the fate of the other type of unfulfilled meditator who is born into a wealthy household in this chapter. Even if such a person indulges in sensual pleasures, Shri Krishna claims that his earlier efforts will force him to rekindle his spiritual journey. He would be able to transcend his material pleasures as a result of this desire or drive towards spirituality.

Karma yoga teaches us how to live our lives without accumulating impressions or samskaaraas that lead to selfish desires. If not erased, these imprints are carried over from one life to the next, resulting in the activation of more selfish wants. Because this family has ample wealth, the unfulfilled meditator born into a prosperous household is compelled to satisfy all of his wants.

His spiritual endeavours, in addition to his inclinations, are carried on into his new existence. These tendencies will show in the form of an unintentional push or inclination toward spirituality at some time in his life. , this seeker will be drawn to satsangs, discourses, and gurus. This seeker, unlike the other sort of seeker who understands exactly what to do in this situation, may not understand what or why this attraction occurs.

Shri Krishna goes on to remark that this drive toward spirituality has the ability to lure him away from his current condition of material enjoyment. Only through perseverance and effort will this seeker be able to break free from the karmic loop. He would wander from the spiritual path if he indulges in selfish impulses. As a result, all spiritual seekers, regardless of their background, must struggle to achieve their spiritual goals on a continuing basis.
